As expected IFA brought the best from Sony. The Japanese company unveiled the Xperia Z1 which is also known as Xperia Honami. After being leaked numerous times eventually the water proof super smartphone is launched. Most of the rumours came true about the device. Sony Xperia Z1 is a blast device with tremendous features and insane power. The successor takes some highlights of its predecessor Xperia Z, but the power is tripled. The device got huge amount of attention and we are already familiar with most of the features it carries. Let's review the device:
Display & Design:
Its follows the stunning design of its predecessor Xperia Z. The Xperia Z1 has an improved gorgeous display with OmniBalance. It has an all glass front and back. An aluminium band wraps around the edge giving the device a sleek look. It has a 5" 1080p full HD Triluminous display with Opti-Contrast and X-Reality. Sony Xperia Z1 is slightly thicker than its predecessor. The water-proof beast can be submerged into water up to 1.5 metre deep for only 30 mins. The design of the device has a strong resemblance to its predecessor but its more comfortable to hold, all thanks to the metal frame on the sides. The IP58 certified device is also dust and shatter proof and uses scratch resistant glass on the front and back. The device is powered by a 3,000 mAh sealed battery.
Processing & Capturing:
Sony Xperia Z1 has a powerful Quad-core Krait 400 Processor clocked at an insane 2.2GHz speed along with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipsets. The processor is slightly better than the Samsung Galaxy S4. There is a 2 gigs worth of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. But the attention seeker is the camera which is jumped from 13MP to 21MP. The primary 21.7MP sensor has a lot to show. It uses Sony's G Lens and sensor size is bigger than the ordinary sensor. It can record 1080p videos with Panorama and HDR modes. It also brings the QX line of lens to enhance the camera capabilities. There is also a BIONZ image processor. So the camera is revamped to some extent. The 2MP front offers vivid face calls.
Software, Connectivity & Storage:
The device doesn't have the latest Android version running out of the box. It is running on the Android 4.2 but the software is enhanced by Sony. There are camera apps which allows you edit pics on the go. The device also offers high speed internet connectivity with the 4G LTE network along with the standard 3G network. It also supports NFC and has Bluetooth with Ant+. The in-built storage is 16GB but it is expandable with the help of a Micro SD card, it means that there is no 32GB version. So with the latest connectivity options and expandable storage this department is well managed.
Conclusion & Price:
Looking at the specifications sheet above I must say the camera on the device is extra ordinary and the with the water resistant panel and ultra-fast chipset the device became special. The device also has QX line of lens with the help of which photography is at your finger tips. Sony Xperia Z1 is specially built for photography lovers. The impressive G-Lens helps you capture nature even under water. Some retailers in UK also offering the QX10 lens free with device. The price of the device is already out. The water-resistant beast will cost only $730 and soon it will be available in the market. There is no exact information about the availability but the device will be available world wide in the mid-October.
