LG made a big announcement in New York. They announced their upcoming flagship device the LG G2. After being leaked so many times finally the device went official. The device has tons of innovative features and a premium design. Readily challenges devices like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One.
Display & Design:
LG has shown tremendous amount of brilliance in the hardware of device. It is one of the most unique design you would say. The device has a 5.2" full HD display which is almost bezel-less. The wake-up and volume keys are moved to the back of the device so that it can feature almost a bezel-less body. The device has a pixel density of 424ppi and offers punchy colors with great viewing angles. G2 uses True HD IPS display and Gorilla Glass 3 for the protection. The power will be provided by a 3000 mAh battery. The device is very large but still you can operate it with one hand. According to the company its the largest a smartphone can get.
Processing & Capturing:
G2 has one of the most powerful processor chipping inside. It has an overwhelming Quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.3GHz together with a Adreno 330 GPU and Snapdragon 800 chipset (the same one chipping inside the Sony Xperia Z Ultra). The 2GB RAM gives you insane speed for High speed gaming. People are very eager to see the camera on the G2 as it carries some innovative features too. The camera on the G2 offers Optical Image Stabilisation in order to neglect blurry images. The 13MP shooter also helps in high speed capturing and low light imaging. The camera has 8X digital Zoom and can record things in crystal clear resolution at 60 fps. Also has a front cam with HD video capture.
Inside the Software:
The LG G2 is skinned with Android version 4.2.2, disappointing not to have 4.3 out of the box. Still it manages to provide a great user experience. The G2's software is enhanced a bit. A double tap on the screen will wake the device up and a double tap on the empty screen will put the device to sleep. Or alternatively you can use the QuickMemo key to act as wake-up key. Cleverly LG also has put on a feature on the device called Guest mode. If you unlock the device with a specific pattern you will directly enter into another account which can be used by kids and friends. The device also has Dolby Sound Enhancement for clear and vivid voice quality.
Conclusion & Availability:
The device only supports micro Sim and also lacks Micro SD slot. But in some markets it would be available with Micro SD slot. It offers two storage options 16/32GB. It will be available in Black and White colors. It is already up for pre-order in the UK and the price listed there is £468. It is expected to hit the market in the late September. LG created a great hype about the device, so the attention its getting is reasonable. On paper the device has a better display, design and software as compared to Galaxy S4 and HTC One. It's very tough competition in the market. But LG has build an enough powerful device to go head to head with other flagship devices in the market.
