Early
this week, New York Times revealed that Nokia was testing Android on their
Lumia devices before the Nokia and Microsoft deal. Now another report from CTechnology confirmed that Nokia is still working
on the Nokia Android project. This is a massive leak as people are eager to see
Nokia and the world's best OS Android working together. It looks like Nokia is
securing their future as they have the option of getting out of the Microsoft
deal till late 2014. Anyways the reports revealed that Nokia has made 10,000
Android prototypes. Foxconn will continue to manufacture such prototypes until
November.
The phone was leaked under the codename Mountain View and is more likely
to be an affordable smartphone. The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
chip. This is all what we got regarding the specifications of the smartphone.
Probably the project is nothing but a backup plan for Nokia. Nokia's
shareholders can denounce the Microsoft's deal, which will not happen. Probably
the project will be canceled as the Microsoft and Nokia deal is more likely to
pass. So if the phone leaks again we will not be surprised.
If Nokia adopts Android, this would be a massive drawback for Microsoft as Nokia make 80% of the Windows phone. On the other hand Android is already rocking the market, so Nokia's acquisition to Android will only strengthen the OS more. Well there is a deep thought behind the game. Stay tuned for more updates.
