After being available online on Amazon, the 41MP cameraphone is now making its way to China. AT&T gave a great start to the sales of the device as it was available right after its launch and cost only $299 on a two year contract and now its hitting the shelves of China stores costs around $980. Both unlocked and on-contract version are available in China. You can buy the unlocked version of Lumia 1020 through China Unicom Network for $980. China Unicom is also offering the device for $163 if you agree to three year contract ($63 per month). So definitely Nokia is doing well to expand the sales of its best Windows 8 mobile. Nokia is also interested to make a deal with largest carrier in the world China Mobile, while the countries other than China have been kept on the waiting list.
For those who don't know what the device is featuring here's a quick look at the specs:
- 4.5" PureMotion HD + ClearBlack Display with Gorilla Glass 3 and a resolution of 768 x 1280 (332ppi)
- Dual-Core Krait 1.5GHz CPU together with 2GB RAM
- Snapdragon Chipset and Adreno 225 GPU
- 41MP primary sensor with 6-element Zeiss Lens, OIS, Xenon flash and 3x Zoom
- Windows 8 OS, upgradeable to WP8 Amber
- 32GB on-board storage, lacks micro SD slot
- Non-removable 2000 mAh battery
Earlier Nokia attempted the same trick on one of its Symbian Smartphones with a 41MP camera, but the not so cool and undeveloped OS ruined it all for the company that's why Nokia consider the Symbian software dead officially. But this thing is running WP8, which is not anymore an undeveloped OS and is getting a little respect in the market share. Other specs are same which you have already seen in other Lumia devices. So the 41MP camera is the only X-Factor. Well this device has some potential for sure, but we have to wait to see the response of people until Nokia post its reports for the quarter. Stay tuned...
